Backing plates
Backing plates: Backing plates pass the machine's movement on to the polishing pads that suit them. Mount, thread and permitted pad size have to match the machine; the backing plate size is not the same figure as the pad's outer diameter.
Thread, mount and system approval all have to line up; a similar diameter on its own proves nothing about compatibility.
